The West Newton enhancement project is a multi-year planning and construction effort to make West Newton Square safer and more convenient for all users.
The goals of the project include:
- Improving on the existing, and somewhat confusing circulation patterns for driving and walking.
- Applying a “Complete Streets” approach to the core area along Washington Street, in order to prioritize safety for all and meet the needs of people visiting the square and those passing through.
- Upgrading landscape and streetscape conditions to create a more inviting and fully accessible sidewalk and business environment during the day and evening, weekday and weekend.
