Old signal, due for replacement. Could be an opportunity for a roundabout to save on signal costs, improve throughput and reduce idling. Is there enough room for deflection?
This location would be, in my estimation, a great candidate for a roundabout.
It’s not only extremely confusing for drivers, but also dangerous for school children walking to and from school, (and then of course it would be dangerous for bicyclists also trying to maneuver around her).
A crossing guard was recently hit by a car exiting Stuart. The crash reports indicate two crashes there.
Above is the aerial.
Here is the view from a driver exiting Stuart. As you can see, the driver exiting Stuart, wanting to head east onto Ward, is exactly directed toward the westbound lane of Ward, ie straight into a car headed any one of 3 directions (north up Waverly, east onto Ward, west onto Ward).
