Some data from Salem, Ma on Wilson street. This is a wide road, that had some on-street parking and residential on one end and a park, undeveloped land, High school, and Elementary school on the other. It is a cut-through and has some high speeds. I did some conceptual proposals showing that a paint buffered bike lane, removing parking, could be implemented on this road back in 2015. That work was further advanced and implemented this past year.
Of note, is that after posts were removed (for the winter) the highest speeding vehicles increased, and that is likely due to the removal of street parking which as other studies have shown does provide some friction, however it still decreased speeds between 25 and 30 and 30 to 40.
