Description / Need
Highland / Valentine is a major route from the City Hall area and Commonwealth Avenue to West Newton Square. This beautiful neighborhood roadway is quite wide (33’ in many places). Police speed boards sometimes installed on the street indicate that speeds are considered a problem here.
The steep grade of the roadway makes bike travel on this route something of a challenge, but with the emergence of e-bikes this route is quite desirable.
Edge lines would narrow the roadway, improve pedestrian safety, reduce vehicle speeds, and help bicyclists who are slowly climbing the hill stay safe.
