Beacon St/Center St/ Cypress St/ Herrick (this area needs to be looked at as a whole)

From an email I sent 10/6/21 to TAG apropos the new bike lanes on Parker St:
Getting on to Parker St from Newton Centre is awful, especially from westbound Beacon St. Making a left off westbound Beacon/Centre onto Cypress to get to southbound Parker St is Wicked Dangerous for bicyclists, even advanced ones. The city absolutely needs to do something NOW to get bikes/scooters etc. through Newton Centre safely onto that bike lane from all directions, even if it means starting the Great Newton Centre signal war all over again. We shouldn’t have to wait until someone is badly injured or worse.

This was my experience coming from my house in Chestnut Hill westbound on Beacon to get to Parker. I had to hang out in the middle of the intersection of Beacon & Centre in Very Heavy Traffic. There was no left turn signal. I turned when someone was nice enough to wait and wave me through. There are no pavement markings at all in the intersection of Beacon/Centre. It’s a complete free for all.
As I was turning left off Beacon and onto Centre the driver who was behind me was impatient and crossed the yellow line into oncoming traffic from Centre St to speed past me on the left even though I had taken the lane and was in the left turn lane and signaling the entire way that I was going left onto Cypress. Getting to Parker St from Newton Centre is NOT OK for bikes the way it is.

The whole area needs wider sidewalks and a protected bike lane in all directions.
